two busy days. part 2.

and now...

Friday
had to be at outpatient surgery at 5:15am.  a disgusting time of morning, if you ask me!  anyway, we got there on time and they had us wait since they "weren't open yet".  what the heck?!?  why call me the night before and have me be there so early if you're not open?  grrr.  but we finally got in a room and i got changed into my stylish hospital gown.  then we waited some more.  then two nurses rush in and tag team me to get vitals, some more info, and give pills my favorite being the magic Valium.  yeah buddy. because they were ready for me asap!  and then we waited about 10 more minutes for them to come get me.

was wheeled to the back the holding pen! and the dude started my IV and all that good stuff.  more waiting.  then wheeled to the OR.  i remember all of it this time.  last time?  not a bit of it!  and then the nurse puts a mask over my nose and some more good stuff in my IV.  the last thing i remember is the nurse asking where my happy place was the beach, of course and if she could come with me.  then i'm waking up in the back and wanting my glasses.  and asking what time it is.  and FREEZING.  but they gave me a couple of nice warm blankies from the warmer and i was all better.  and chest xray.  then back to my room and my Love with the port in place!  yay!  and OUCH.

talked to the surgeon.  another x ray.  waited on the x ray.  waited on the surgeon to look at the x ray.  talked to the surgeon again and he says i have a 5% collapse in my left lung.  uh oh!  but he also says that the treatment is more painful than just dealing with it.  so as long as i don't come home and run around or exercise heavily, it should be fine.  yeah, no danger of any of that with me!  just have to be aware of more pain or shortness of breath and if any of that happens, come back to the ER.  if 5% hurts this bad, i *really* don't want to know what more feels like, thankyouverymuch!  it'll heal on it's own in the next few weeks so i just have to be careful.  not a problem!

so i'm just hangin' out here in the recliner.  pretty sore and hurting when i take deep breaths but not writhing in pain or anything.  and i have stuff for pain, anyway.  and really, REALLY tired.  i've probably taken a few naps today.  and i think i'm going to sleep here tonight, too.  it'll just make it easier for me to not try and roll over and whatnot since my neck is hurting from this tube.  it'll be better that way.

so, there's the last two days for ya!  we're going to savor the weekend and just hang out together.  the calm before the chemo storm...
