two busy days. part 1.

hi kids!  it's been a crazy full two days and there's lots to catch up on...

Thursday
headed to the hospital at 9am for a Muga heart scan and a CT scan.  this, of course, involved multiple stabbings.  remember now, i can only get stabbed in the left arm because all my lymph nodes are out on the right side.  so i get my first stabbing which turns into 2 stabbings because the first didn't work and get all radioactivated.  wait 20 minutes for that to soak in or circulate or whatever it does.  then another stabbing an IV this time so all subsequent injections for the day can be done through it and head into the scanner.  it took a picture/movie of my heart to measure whatever it was they needed to measure.  i relaxed and possibly even dozed off for a sec during this test.  got to see what they were looking at after i was released from my straps yeah, they lightly strap you down.  i guess it's so you don't jump off and run away? and it was pretty neat!  saw a big black circle in the middle showing the magnet in my expander, too.  teehee!
then it was on to the CT.  i drank my "berry smoothie" flavored  or as i call it...berry-ish but more like butt flavored contrast for breakfast and had to drink another cup before the scan.  ick!!  absolutely froze while waiting to be scanned, too.  i *hate* being cold and shivering because it just plain hurts!  but i got covered up with a blankie for the scan and was okay.  had to put my arms over my head uh, yeah.  righty is still T Rex-ified! and they zoomed me back and forth and back and forth and made me hold my breath a few times.  and then i was done!  the nurse took my IV out and said "bye!"  so my sis in law my Vicki sitter for the day was kind enough to take me to lunch AND treat for some Gigi's cheesecakes.  yes, Gigi's has little cheesecakes now.  i'm gonna eat mine tonight!

after a little rest at home, it was haircut time.  this is what i have been most nervous about through the entire thing.  silly but true.  my entourage came with to hold my hand and cheer me on.  my most fantabulous stylist did a great job of being gentle, as well.  to maximize the amount of hair donated and minimize hair waste, we divided my hair into 5 ponytails.
and then she cut!  and cut.  and cut.  and cut some more.  and here's how it ended up...
very, very SHORT!  but that was the point, i reckon.  everyone is telling me how cute it is.  i'm not crazy about it though all the compliments are helping! but it had to be done.  anyway, i'll be donating a bunch of hair...

yeah, that's a yardstick with the 5 ponytails on either side!  we definitely maximized the donation here.  and i DO feel good about that!

my stylist and my entourage did an excellent job handling me and we got through it with minimal tears.  well, i thought it was minimal!  there's no way i'd have let anyone else cut it, for sure!  she is definitely yet another blessing to me!

and just so y'all know, when all this is over i will have long hair until i'm 147 years old.  mkay?  good.  glad we cleared that up.  ;o)
