well, it seems we are full speed ahead now! went to the chemo doctor today and talked about a LOT of stuff. and she seems to think i'll be good to go for chemo right at 4 weeks post op. she's accommodating for the day of the week we'd prefer for treatment and we said right at the beginning of the week. in the hopes that we get all the feeling yucky out of the way during the week while Little Dude is in school most of the day. good weekends are what we're shooting for! so we have a start date of September 4th. YIKES! it's a bit terrifying even though i've wanted to know for at *least* a week now. i want to get going but it's still scary to actually be doing it!
we've got a TON going on between now and then!
-i've got to have some sort of heart scan and a CAT scan. yay. i get to drink that nasty contrast stuff. i chose "berry smoothie" flavor. yeah right! both just so the doctor has a baseline to work from.
-then we've got to schedule another outpatient surgery where i'll have a port put in. just a little thing where i'll get all my sticks from now on...blood draws, chemo infusions, etc. it'll be in for at least a year. i'm guessing more like 2, though. we see the surgeon on Tuesday so i expect to schedule that little deal at that appointment.
-have to see the plastic surgeon a couple of times to get "filled". that should only be 3-4 more times and then it'll just be check ups.
-AND i have to get the haircut. dun dun duuuuuuuuun. hopefully that'll be the saturday right before the 4th. as close to treatment day as possible! haven't made that appointment yet. surprising, i know! kinda stinks though...i won't even have one saturday during football season with a ponytail. and i just bought a super cute houndstooth scarf ROLL TIDE! from 31 to wear in my hair. guess i'll just have to wear it as a belt instead! but i'll be cutting it to donate my original purpose for growing it anyway so it won't be a waste at all!
best news of the day? NO RADIATION after chemo! wooohoooooo! that means 6 less weeks of treatments and 6 less weeks i'll have to wait for my permanent "foobs". the plastic surgeon has said he'll give me about 2 months after treatment to heal and get strength back and then we'll do the permanent rebuild. now i understand that could change but it's a good goal to work toward!
so there we go. i asked and i received. whoa.
