today has been a ROUGH one. i've had visits from Itchy, Hurty, Stingy, Barfy, and Smelly. you don't want visits from any of those guys, i assure you.
i slept in the recliner in the living room last night. was doing really well until i slept right through a couple of doses of pain meds. the pain woke me up so i went ahead and took meds for it. they kicked in and the morning was spent watching Olympic stuff and messing around on the computer. when it was time, i took another dose and my sister in law and i got me all cleaned up. i'm so in love with her right now. amazing girl, i tell ya! we well, SHE washed my hair in the kitchen sink with minimal mess and discomfort. my hair is long AND thick. a difficult task for her to take on! then we moved on to the bathtub yep, up close and personal with the sis in law. i told y'all she was amazing! so i could wash the bottom half well and damp wipe the top half and the pits. ew! the pits are...let's just not go there. it is skurry. then she even dried my hair! which takes for-ev-errrrrrrrr. i felt and looked! like a new woman after that! and needed a nap in a BAD way. all that activity just sucked the energy right out. *yawn*
sat down in my chair and the nausea started. oh my word do i HATE being nauseated!! if i could just barf, it'd be better. hate barfing too but it gets the feeling gone. was totally scared to barf because my muscles and everything are SO tight from the expanders. so i laid back and tried to breathe deeply to get the feeling to go away. again, tight chest from the expanders. hard to take a good, deep breath. yeah, i got problems. i just wanted to get to the point where i could at least swallow the dang pill for nausea! spent time hangin' out by the toilet...hoping. came back to the chair...hoping. and then FINALLY i got to the point where i thought i could swallow a gulp of water and a pill. sat here while that kicked in and continued my prayers for relief! and rested up. and i finally did!! i managed to eat 4 saltine crackers and a couple of spoonfuls of chicken noodle soup and they were deee- wait for it-lightful! some of the best darn crackers i've ever eaten! haha!
feeling much better now and hoping i can keep on my pain med schedule so Hurty and Stingy don't show up again. my left arm is my "good" arm and can move it around and everything pretty well. they didn't take out lymph nodes on that side! it's too dang bad i'm right handed, isn't it?
Sorry for all of your discomforts! Love how you've kept your sense of humor even when you feel rough!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you have an iphone or smartphone but if you do, I suggest you look into an app like pillboxy. You can program all your meds into it and the times you need to take them and will set an alarm to go off when it's time for your next dose. I used it after my c-section to wake me up when I needed my pain meds. It was very helpful.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, hope you start to head down the road of recovery soon.
