i've got a little scar on my chin from where i busted it on the kitchen counter. i slipped trying to jump up on said counter to reach the upper cabinets to get a snack.
there's a scar on my knee from one or more bike riding accidents.
i've got a scar on my heart from when i miscarried our first baby.
i've got a c-section scar from when our Little Dude was born. that one is definitely my favorite.
there are a few scars in my brain from high school.
i've got a couple of scars from getting my port where chemo and other meds are given. a tiny one on my neck where the tube was inserted into my vein and another about 2 inches long, right below my clavicle where the "pokey part" of the port is.
and now i have scars where "the girls" used to be. 2 really big, ugly scars. 7 small scars where the drains were after surgery.
at first, i just didn't look at them much. then i looked at them and really HATED them. hated them for what they meant. hated them for reminding me that i have cancer. hated them for making me...less than. not "normal". not healthy.
now i have a different attitude. now when i look at them i see struggle. i see fight. i see the hardest thing i've EVER had to do. i see strength. i see triumph. i see a SURVIVOR.
Good thing I wear waterproof mascara.
