d'oh!

had my first "Herceptin only" infusion yesterday.  took Tylenol and Benadryl as pre-meds and had to wait 30 minutes and then the infusion itself took 30 minutes.  so i reckon that'll be my routine every other week until chemo is over and then every 3 weeks for the next year.  i can handle that!  well, except that Benadryl gives me crazy legs!  i forgot Benadryl did that to me.  i'll have to try and remember to mention it to the doctor.  maybe there's something else we can do!  for real, it's like my legs just *have* to move.  especially the right one.  don't really know what that's all about but it is pretty annoying.  and weird.  yeah, yeah.  par for the course here.  and because of the Benadryl, i came home and slept the day away!  when i should've been doing housework.

the tingling and numbness in my fingers is getting worse and has now started affecting my toes.  and my bestie pointed out that i need no help in the grace department so i'll need to be extra careful!   i'll discuss it with my doctor next week and see what she says.  i read up last night and found that it can take from 3 to 5 months after treatment is done for all the feeling to come back.  i'll just have to be patient.  BWAHAHA!  like i'm patient.   

there is a little bit of funny in all this...the other day i was heating up a bowl of soup in the microwave and stuck my numb finger in it to check the temperature.  um, yeah...doesn't really work too well right now!  i do the same thing when i run water for a shower.  AND the other evening i "tested" the oven door our oven door gets SUPER hot so i test the handle to see if i need a pot holder by tapping it with my fiinger.  D'oh!  i have to laugh at myself!  just more of those habits coming to light.  i STILL try to flick my hair out from under my collar when i put on a shirt.

overall, things are good.  i'm tired but nowhere near what it was a few weeks ago.  i'm eating!  even gained back a couple of lbs!  never thought i'd be so happy about that!  still can't taste much but i don't have that gross metallic taste and that is AWESOME.  so we just keep chuggin' along and doing what we gotta do!
