tears, vanity, and kindnesses

tears:
i'm a crier.  i cry when i'm happy.  i cry when i'm sad.  i cry when i'm mad.  extremely frustrating, that one.  i cry when i'm frustrated.  and i cry when something touches my heart.  i'm just an emotional being!  so yeah, i've been crying a lot.  like, a LOT lot.  but since that first night, i haven't cried about cancer.  i decided early on that this little turd is not worth my tears!  i'm sure there are many more tears to be shed but none will be for cancer!

vanity:
i find myself singing "you're so vain..." quite often lately.  why?  because your brain is totes weird and comes up with random songs?  no?  oh.  because i have realized just how vain i am.  most especially when it comes to my hair.  i have great hair, people.  seriously.  it's long, thick, and a great color.  i can wear it wavy/curly or straight.  i've worn it long for about 12ish years now...alternating between growing it out and cutting it to donate.  and pretty much everyone knows how i feel about my hair.  well, it looks like we're headed right toward chemo and that means i most likely lose my hair.  and probably my eyelashes.  i also have great long lashes.  dang it!  i know there's a lesson in this but i can't see the scalp through hairstyle right now.  hardeeharhar.  i do know that i will rock a short, sassy 'do just as hard as the long one!  i'll cover the bald head because it won't be pretty.  my head is mad bumpy, yo.  the plus side is that i won't have to shave, neener, neener, neeeeener! and it will take much less time to get ready in the mornings.
(i donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  i decided 2 donations ago that i wanted to donate for women because if something ever happened to me, i'd not be in the kid category.  little did i know what was coming!  plus they let you have a minimum donation of 8 inches instead of 10.)

kindnesses:
this is where it gets sappy.  it has to be done...
we have been wrapped in prayer and love from the very beginning of this journey.  the sheer numbers of those in our prayer army are amazing!  believe me when i say we are so extremely honored by your kindnesses.  this is what brings tears to our eyes.  this is worthy of them.  thank you just doesn't seem big enough to express our gratitude but that's what we've got.  so we say...THANK YOU from the tops, bottoms, insides, and outs of our hearts.

  1. In all honestly, I don't even have the great hair, it is fine and straight....but this would still be a HUGE deal to me. So cry about it!! I feel your pain on that one...it would rank high on my list of fears if I were in your shoes.

  2. Awww, I just want to give you a great big hug! I would be upset about my hair too. But I knew you back in 7th grade when you rocked a pixie cut, so I know you can do it again :-) And in the meantime there are some cute head covers on Etsy, so you should go shopping: http://www.etsy.com/shop/thehatcottage

  3. I for one know first hand that you have great hair. ;) But, that being said, hair is just that. Hair. (easier said coming from someone who still will have theirs, huh?) well what I'm trying to say is....that even without all the massive amounts of hair you have (and I do mean massive) what's really more beautiful than that is the wonderful personality and outlook you give to things when so many other people would climb up in bed and never come out. (which I'm sure you wouldn't mind doing) but the point is you don't. You say....yup....this is what it is, let's suck it up and do this!!! And really, that's what I'll still be seeing about you. Long after the hair is gone. :))
