yesterday was 7 weeks post chemo. and it was a GREAT day!
surgery is scheduled!! on Monday February 25th, i'll be having the final reconstructive surgery and i am SO ready! well, i'm always nervous about surgery but i'm ready to be done!
during this surgery, i'll get the skin expanders i currently have replaced with real implants. i call the expanders my "fake" fake boobs and the implants my "real" fake boobs. ha! the doctor will also make...um...uh...the uh..."fancy bits". all they're really gonna do is make the girls looks more normal. it should be an outpatient surgery but i don't know how long the actual procedure will take or anything. i have a pre-op appointment the Wednesday before so i'll ask all my questions then. i'm fortunate to have a very meticulous and methodical plastic surgeon EXACTLY what i want in a surgeon! so i'm confident he'll explain everything.
i'm not sure what i'm in for as far as recovery yet. i've been told that i'll go home with a couple of drains my nemesis! on my right side no lymph nodes there and all sorts of dressings and whatnot. we'll be back to the no shower thing for a little while but since i've got the sponge bath thing down to a tee, it's not a super huge deal. not that i won't hate it, 'cause i will! i do love a good, long, steamy shower! i'll be back to button down shirts and easy clothes, too. guess i'd better get to ironing so they'll be ready to wear. yuck.
i'm also not sure what to expect pain-wise since most of that is still numb. i'm hoping it'll work in my favor and i'll be a-okay!
and a quick hair update...
i'm officially HATLESS! unless it's cold, that is. there's still not much of it but i'm just so dang proud of what IS there that i don't want to cover it up! it's pretty fuzzy and a bit patchy. the right side is "longer" than the left. i'm thinkin' we'll have to get the clippers out and even it up. i'm ready to get my "chemo curls" now.
lashes are coming along. i've got enough to dab some mascara on so that's exactly what i do! they're short and stubby but i have 'em and i'm proud of 'em!
eyebrows are...weird. they'll take a long while to get back to normal and i'll have to work on them to get the shape right. i'm gonna have awesome brows when they're all back!
i'm back to shaving. never thought i'd be glad about it but i am! it means things are getting back on track and back to "normal".
spent some time with my bestie and her awesome sister! yesterday. the bestie has been gettin' her hustle on and workin' like mad i've lost count of how many jobs she has! so we haven't had much time to hang out lately. it was a gorgeous day and we took advantage of it.
AND i found out that i'll be auntie to a healthy bouncing baby NEPHEW! this one given to me by my sister and her husband. of course, it didn't *really* matter...we are super excited either way! but i know big brother *really* wanted a brother and my Little Dude did, too. he said "YES!" and did a fist pump when i told him! too cute. we're due to meet him in mid July and we're so happy!
