shhhhhh! hear that? no? then you DO hear it! it's the sound of silence. and it. is. GLORIOUS.
as strange as it may seem since i'm an oversharer and all, i am a complete introvert. i NEED my time alone. and yes, i mean time away from my Love and Dude, too. don't get me wrong...those two are my favorite people in the whole entire world. but they are still people. and i gotta be ALONE sometimes. and you mommas know we don't even get to potty by ourselves so...
my Love was home from work sick last week during my usual alone time. and Dude was home from school sick before that. and the weekend was sandwiched in between. and then i worked. and then another weekend. and yesterday was no school for President's Day. and it was yucky and rainy and cold so we were inside all day! so it's been a while and i was just on the verge of boarding the bus to crazytown!
what does it mean to be in an introvert? well, some would define it as "shy" but that's not entirely accurate. shyness is more about anxiety and nervousness in social situations i used to be painfully shy. got over that when i worked in retail! introversion is more that we just enjoy doing our thinking and feeling (and assessing said thoughts and feelings) on our own. kind of a "we enjoy our own company" type situation. instead of social situations exciting and charging us up, they drain us. we need time alone to regroup and recharge. even time away from our very favorite people in the world!
so that's what i'm doing today. chilling by myself. doing laundry. whoop-dee-do! blogging. it counts because i don't actually have to talk. i'm thinking and typing instead! eatin' my Moon Pie and drinkin' my coffee for breakfast. hey, it's Fat Tuesday! and recharging so i can have an awesome time with my "warriors" tonight!
are you an introvert or extrovert? they are opposite of us introverts. and i don't understand the way they work at all! ha! what about your partner? why does it work? why does it not work? do people have a hard time understanding why you're one way or the other? see, it take all kinds to make the world go 'round...we just might not understand how "they" do it! and "they" don't understand us either! let's appreciate that other set of folks, too. i'll just be doing it from here. ALONE. and happier for it!
after while, crocodiles!
